This website documents several New Jersey school districts whose compliance with transition plans are a condition of resuming full local control of their affairs. The districts (highlighted below) have worked to improve and disengage from N.J. Department of Education intervention and oversight. The site is maintained by the Bloustein Local Government Research Center, a unit of the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University. The Center serves as an independent Comprehensive Accountability Office that monitors and reports on district compliance using an Accountability Scorecard. The scorecard tracks each district’s compliance with the transition plans agreed upon by the individual boards of education and the Department.
